Welcome to Ascension Lutheran Church’s website. If you are new to Ascension, we’re glad that you’re here. Below are some general questions that you may have about your first visit to our church campus. We look forward to the opportunity of worshiping and serving together.
How Do I Get To Ascension? Where Can I Park?
Ascension Lutheran Church’s address is 1225 East Morehead St. Click here to view our campus’ location on Google Maps.
- From I-277, take the Kenilworth Ave. exit, and turn right at the light. Ascension is located two blocks south of the I-277 overpass, at the intersection of East Morehead St. and Kenilworth Ave.
- From the south side of Charlotte, take Providence Rd. north, continuing straight as it becomes Queens Rd. and then East Morehead St.
Our parking lot has some spaces reserved for our guests. If our parking lot is full on Sunday morning, you may park in the lot next to ours, on Harding Pl., or directly in front of the church building on East Morehead St.
If you’re taking public transit, our campus is across the street from a CATS bus stop serving routes 6 and 25.
Is Ascension’s Campus Accessible?
Most of the main parts of our campus are accessible, including the Sanctuary, Luther Hall, the Narthex, and the Christian Education building. We have several wheelchair-accessible parking spaces, as well as restrooms.
Large-print worship folders and assistive listening devices are available upon request during Sunday worship services; please consult with an usher before the worship service to request either of these.

What is the Style of Worship at Ascension? Do You Have Videos of Your Services Online?
Liturgical worship at Ascension is led with a fresh, high-quality approach in the traditional style. This means that we incorporate the best of both traditional hymnody and worship music of today into our services, where congregational participation is always encouraged. For more information about our worship services, please visit the Worship Overview page.
If you’d like to take a look at a recent worship bulletin, please see the “Worship Bulletins & Announcements” box on the right side of the Announcements and Publications page.
If you’d like to see a video of one of our live-streamed worship services, please visit our YouTube channel, where you’ll find full-length videos of many of our worship services.
Are Children Invited to Participate in Worship?
Children are always invited to participate in worship at Ascension; we always encourage parents to bring their children to worship. A children’s message is offered once a month. There are also activity bags available for children to take into the worship service.
If your child becomes restless during worship, you are more than welcome to take them into the narthex or nursery, where an attendant from Blue Dot Cares is present all morning. You’ll find a baby-changing table in our accessible restroom, and you’ll also be able to see and hear the worship service in the nursery.

Lutherans get their name from Martin Luther, a German priest who was excommunicated from the Roman Catholic Church in the early 1500s. Luther’s writing and teaching sparked the Protestant Reformation.
The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three short phrases: Grace Alone, Scripture Alone and Faith Alone. Read more about Our Beliefs here.
