Ash Wednesday Worship :: March 1, 12:00 & 7:00 PM
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the forty-day period in which the Church remembers the time leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion and death. We also await the festival of Easter on which we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection from the grave.
Ash Wednesday is a more contemplative, penitent service: we are reminded of the stain of sin as the mark of ashes is placed on our foreheads. We hear words of penitence, specifically those from Psalm 51, and share in moments of silence for self-reflection and examination.
We will have two Ash Wednesday services at Ascension on March 1, 2017: one at 12:00 PM in the Chapel, and one at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary. The 7:00 PM service will be signed by Pastor Michael MacDonald of the Chapel for the Deaf Lutheran Church.
Ascension Lutheran Church is a safe haven where all people are wanted, welcomed, and accepted in Christ.
