Valparaiso University Chorale Concert – Monday, March 5

The Valparaiso University Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Christopher M. Cock, will give a concert as part of their spring tour at Ascension Lutheran Church on Monday, March 5, 2018. The Chorale is among the top Lutheran collegiate choirs in the United States and is dedicated to performing works that celebrate the University’s Lutheran heritage. The choir is also noted for the performance of significant contemporary works in their original languages and for the performance of music expressing multicultural perspectives.

The Thüringer Allegemine reviewed the Chorale’s concert in 2007: “a first-class ensemble … such a high degree of tonal unity, such sure intonation in the most complex and dissonant groups of chords, and such a precise feeling of dynamic shading … “ In 2010, the Schwarzwälder Bote exclaimed, “Their heavenly and virtuosic performance enthused the audience,” and the Schwäbisches Tagblatt hailed their performance as “masterful.”

Valparaiso University is a selective, independent Lutheran institution in Valparaiso, Indiana, about an hour’s drive from Chicago. Founded in 1859, Valpo offers a thorough grounding in the liberal arts as well as professional training and graduate study, helping students find their own paths to lifelong personal, spiritual, and professional growth.

The concert on Monday, March 5 will begin at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary. This event is open to the public, and a freewill offering will be collected. Join us for a dessert reception in Luther Hall immediately following the concert.
