(June 10th – August 19, 2018):
Sunday School 8:30-9:30am
Outside of weekly Sunday worship services, Ascension Lutheran Church observes times of worship on special occasions for many different reasons. These may be times of celebration, life passages, or lament, for example. Whatever the case may be, we know that God is present with us in our worship, and the Holy Spirit gathers us together as a family of believers.
“Praise & Prayer”
Our weekly Praise & Prayer services are held every Tuesday, immediately prior to the serving of lunch in the Soup Kitchen. All persons are invited to come as they are, from where they are, for a brief 10-15 minute time of worship. During the Praise & Prayer service, we hear God’s Word, we join in singing spirituals and songs, and pray together familiar texts as well as prayers for our community. The Praise & Prayer service meets in Luther Hall at 11:00 AM every Tuesday.
Luther Hall is located below the Sanctuary, and is accessible via an elevator in the “Luther Hall” exterior entranceway. Click here for a PDF map of our campus facilities.
Advent and Lent Midweek Services
During the seasons of Advent (the four Sundays prior to Christmas) and Lent (forty days before Easter), we gather together every Wednesday evening for a time of fellowship and worship. Lenten midday services are at 12:00 PM in the Chapel. Later the same evening, supper is served at 6:00 PM in Luther Hall; a donation is accepted for the supper to support the various missions and ministries of our church. Following the supper, we gather together at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary for evening prayer with a message.
For more information about the specific dates and times of these services, please refer to the church calendar.
Through Holy Baptism, our heavenly Father liberates us from death and sin by joining us to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In Holy Baptism, our old selves are drowned in the water of the Holy Spirit and are made new.
Individuals, or parents/sponsors of individuals, who are interested in more information about baptism should contact the church office.
Ascension Lutheran Church’s sanctuary is a beautiful facility in which to celebrate the honorable estate of Holy Matrimony between a man and a woman. Members of Ascension are invited to use our facilities for their wedding; non-members should first contact the Pastor if they would like to use our facilities for their wedding.
Couples who are interested in having their wedding take place at Ascension must agree to our Wedding Ceremony Information and Policies. This comprehensive PDF document outlines the procedures, policies, and suggestions couples should be aware of when considering Ascension Lutheran Church for their wedding venue.
At the time of a loved one’s death, Ascension Lutheran Church mourns with the family of the deceased. We also rejoice in the promise of resurrection because of the grace of God in Christ Jesus.
Please contact the church office to discuss arrangements for a Memorial Service or a Funeral. The Pastor will prepare and lead the service after meeting with family members of the deceased.
